Rail east of Highway Print E-mail
Written by South West News - Quest Community Newspaper
Thursday, 12 April 2007

APRIL 11: The Darra to Springfield railway line will be built east of the existing Centenary Highway with train stations at Richlands and Springfield Lakes.

The State Government released the passenger railway line plan last week but did not intend to conduct community consultation on the Richlands station until Member for Inala Annastacia Palaszczuk insisted.

A spokeswoman for the Main Roads Minister Paul Lucas said it was the local member's job to be at the forefront of issues.
Brisbane City Councillor Les Bryant (Richlands) was also disappointed by the lack of consultation.

Two parcels of land have been earmarked as potential sites for the rail station.

The options are council-owned land wedged between the Centenary Motorway, Garden, Progress, and Main roads land south of Progress Rd, between Progress Rd and Government Rd.

People can view the options until April 29 at Ms Palaszczuk's office at 20 Wirraway Pde, Inala; at the Inala Library, Corsair Ave; and at Richlands Primary School at 75 Old Progress Rd, Richlands.

Staff will be on hand to explain the plans from 10am-2pm on Saturday and on April 21 at the Inala Civic Centre at 156 Inala Ave.
