At 9:50am, 60 years ago on the 5th May 1947, Queensland's worst train disaster occurred when a Picnic train derailed at Camp Mountain on the Dayboro Branch. The train, organised by the Customs & Excise Department's social club, was carrying 500 women and children. The death toll reached 15, with 30 injured.
