The Motive Power running in and out of Queensland is quite varied and runs across 3 main gauges - 2' (600mm), 3' 6" (1,067mm) and 4' 8½" (1438mm). As this site is mostly Queensland focussed, we will mainly concentrate on Motive Power that has, currently does or will run into Queensland in the future. Though we will continue to cover QRNational's motive power interstate - ARG West maybe included in future.
Before we continue, the section of Motive Power is sorted by Gauge, Operator, Traction type and then the locomotive themselves.

| All Main-line Queensland operations operate on the Narrow Gauge, this includes operators such as QR and Pacific National Queensland. Along with, in future, Tourist Railways. |

| Interstate trains operate on the Uniform Gauge into Queensland via a spur which passes up the Coast of New South Wales into the suburban Acacia Ridge Yard. Short spurs also head to Nyanda, Port of Brisbane and Roma Street Station. This section covers operations of Pacific National into Queensland, ARG West and part of QRNational's interstate operations in the Hunter Valley and on the Main Line to Melbourne. |
